Showing highlights from the Al Shira'aa Jumping Championships

It was wonderful to see so many top show horses and ponies back at Hickstead last week, for the first time in nearly two years.

One very familiar face in the ribbons on Thursday was Jayne Ross, who took the Alltech Small Hunter tricolor with Wall Street II. Jayne also stood reserve on Casino in the Supreme Riding Horse championship, with Frazer Atherden and Kellythorpes Obsession taking the overall title.

It was a great show for the Atherdens, with Frazer's wife Janay winning the Supreme Cob championship with Randalstown Top Notch. Meanwhile, Katie Jerram-Hunnable, another prolific Hickstead winner, took the Alltech Maxi Cobs with Boheradurrow Fred.

The Alltech Hunter classes are always great to watch - not only do you see who has picked up their HOYS tickets, you can also get some good insight into who might be likely to feature in the line-up at next month's Prenetics Royal International Horse Show.

The Hood family are always ones to watch in the show ring, and on Saturday it was Oliver Hood who claimed the hunter tricolour with the stunning six-year-old lightweight, Timpany Imperial. Justine Armstrong-Small stood reserve with the middleweight Carlingsford King. Meanwhile, over in the workers, Katy Green took the title with the hugely promising eight-year-old AOC Quality Oz.

Sunday saw the finalists take to the International Arena for the RoR Tattersalls Ridden Show Series Championship. The winners were Collette McGoldrick on Mumford, a nine-year-old bay gelding who raced eight times on the Flat. He picked up a few placings but never won during his racing career, but he certainly looked every inch a champion today in the show ring. William Norton and Tikkskinned, who won the National Hunt division, stood reserve.

The RoR Amateur Ridden Show Series Championship also took place with Hannah Chisman and FIrst Fandango taking the title ahead of Phoebe Workman and Johns Gem in reserve.

Jayne Ross finished the show with another Supreme title, this time in the Coloured Horse championship. Her win came courtesy of KBF Crescendo, a previous winner of the RIHS supreme coloured title.

The Alltech Supreme Hack Championship went to Jo Bates and the prolific gelding Elusive.
