Winning the All England Grand Prix at Hickstead has certainly changed things for the better for Phillip Miller.
Not only did he pick up the winners' sash and prize cheque, he also got given a six month loan of an Avant compact tool carrier. According to Phillip, it has revolutionised the way he runs his Hertfordshire-yard.
Phillip is well known for his longstanding partnership with the charismatic grey Caritiar Z. The pair won the iconic Hickstead Derby in 2013 when jumping the only clear round, and have won the All England Grand Prix - the finale of the All England Jumping Championships - two years running.
The Avant compact tool carrier has been a ‘real asset’ to Greenacres Equestrian Centre, the busy competition and livery yard and riding school owned by Pennie Cornish, where Phillip is based.
Phillip soon discovered that the Avant was able to make light work of so many of their everyday chores - which is vital when you have a yard of more than 200 horses.
“The Avant is essential for a busy yard, we use it every day, I don’t know how we manged without it," said Phillip.
“In particular, the Avant is fantastic for putting hay and haylage out to the paddocks in winter to replace the slow and tedious use of wheelbarrows.
“On a daily basis we use the Avant to transport straw and hay bales, unload feed deliveries, for general clean-up duties and to clean up the muck heap.”
Added Raimo Ala-Korpi, Managing Director of Avant UK: “We are delighted Phillip is putting the Avant to work and realising its true potential on the yard.”
Avant manufactures a wide range of compact, 4-wheel drive machines, which can be fitted with a very comprehensive range of accessories to meet the many varied requirements of the hire market to make general maintenance jobs, easy and less labour intensive.
