Equine photographer Matthew Seed was commissioned to create a series of photographs of Trevor and ‘Addy’, known as the ‘one-eyed wonder horse’ after winning Hickstead's most famous class. The collection of images were released on Hickstead’s Facebook page, with showjumping fans encouraged to vote for their favourite.
The above image was the runaway winner, receiving 44% of the total of 1,030 votes. It will be displayed on Matthew Seed’s stand (62-63) throughout this year’s Equestrian.com Hickstead Derby Meeting, with visitors encouraged to visit the stand to admire this unique work of art.
“I’m really pleased this image won, as it was my personal favourite,” said Hickstead Director Lizzie Bunn. “It really show the closeness between Trevor and ‘Addy’, and many of our Facebook fans talked about the true beauty and emotion of the portrait. I am looking forward to seeing it displayed at the show.”
The image will be auctioned off in aid of the Mark Davies Injured Riders’ Fund, Hickstead’s charity of the year. The framed portrait will measure 36in x 36in and will be signed by the photographer.
Bidding is open now, and will close at midday on Sunday 28 June – just ahead of this year’s Equestrian.com Derby. Bids should be placed online at www.jumblebee.co.uk/hicksteadportrait.
