Hickstead Derby legend Skip Two Ramiro has died at the age of 20.
Guy Williams made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying: "It's with great sadness I heard that Skip Two Ramiro passed away yesterday.... He had been enjoying his semi-retirement with my friends, the Boulter family, jumping a few shows and spending time in the paddock.
Not only did 'Skippy' win Hickstead's most iconic class, he was also placed a number of times. He was third in 2008 and second in 2009 before finally lifting the famous Boomerang Trophy in 2010.
"He was a real soldier winning just under £400,000, most of which was won on the National circuit," Guy wrote. "He made my dream come true in 2010 when he won the Hickstead Derby, jumping a double clear finishing more than 10sec faster than Promised Land."
He continued to pick up a number of top 10 placings in the Derby, before competing for the final time in 2015.
Guy counts his Derby win - in Hickstead's 50th anniversary year - as one of the most important in his career. "“It was emotional,” he said at the time. “You save a horse all year for one class, and when it all goes right, you know you’ve done your job properly."
Skip Two Ramiro, 1996 - 2016.
